Armor Havok Post Jam Adjustmens and some New Stuff


Ok so time for another small update, but this time with some gameplay tweaks, some beefing up to player feedback and an new weapon (kinda not really XD)

First thigs first, i didn't wanted to go overboard but i have increased player movement speed and adjusted the walk cycle to hopefully synch a bit better. I've also very slightly slowed down the speed of some enemies to avoid endless edge of screen pursuits as the enemies walked at the exact same speed as the player in the jam version.

I made a new playable weapon available, well not really new cause in fact this weapon was already planned and had everything coded and all for the jam but... it had a bug i couldn't manage to crush in time so i had to disable it and make it unavailable to the player to avoid crashes. But now it's back fixed and ready to go, that weapon is a 3 round burst fire rifle, and is now the starting weapon of the 8th pilot in the roster (the Cheetah guy) it fires the same bullets as the regular rifles but with increased velocity and much less spread for better precision.

One more thing with weapons, is that i've buffed the sniper rifle compared to the jam version to spice it up and have it be a less boring weapon to use, it now fire small explosive rounds that deal additional splash damage with the impact, but beware enemy snipers also have the same buff !

Regarding some smaller adjustments, the background colors are now back (had a test greyscale texture to test things out while i was trying to figure out how ti improve performance in the previous build)

Last but not least i've juiced up the player feedback a bit by having screenshake when taking hits and firing weapons just to add a bit extra oomph to combat.

And well that's about it for this update, i'll try to see what i could improve / revamp if necessary next time i can work on an update, in the mean time i hope you'll enjoy what's there :)

  • Fixed and reinstated the "burst rifle" weapon and made it new start weapon for the 8th pilot in roster (the cheetah guy)
  • Buffed the "sniper rifle" weapon by making its bullets explosive with splash damage (note : also apply to enemies using the weapon)
  • Reduced hitbox size of powerups to allow players to skip unwanted weapons and keep repair crates for later use
  • Added screenshake when shooting and taking damage to give a bit more feedback and improve gamefeel
