Mecha Team Maverick Post Jam Radar and Boss update
Okay time for another update ^^
This time i'm adding 2 big changes mainly a radar/minimap system that should hopefully help make the levels (mostly finding objectives) less confusing overall, and i spiced up/revamped the final bossfight to be a bit more interesting than going in a safe spot in the corner and shooting away as the boss melts down in seconds :p
First the radar/minimap :
With an aded "SCAN" hud element, that shows the level's layout with enemies showed as purple dots,
objectives as larger red dots,
and powerup weapons shown as green dots.
The player location is the always centered white dot on the display.
Next the bossfight revamp :
The boss now has a new arena completely redisigned for the fight, the player can no longer access the upper part of the arena with their small light mecha, so attacks will have to be dodged a bit more actively, also the boss's plasma projectiles now explode on impact dealing extra damage, or if the player is too close to the wall, can deal splash damage from the explosion itself.
The boss also has a slightly altered behaviour, instead of the random choice from its pool of patterns which often resulted in multiple times going for the same move, it now has a bit more understandable set pattern with just its direction chosen at random (when he goes for a moving shot)
Some other small changes :
I added a new crosshair system that changes your reticle based on which weapon you have, some share the same but i figured it could help better estimate where shots land on some of the least accurate weapons, the reticle also has a dynamic element that helps figuring out the precise angle the canons are at when aiming.
Lastly i retweaked some of the weapons damage values, as some starter weapons seemed a little bit too OP
