My entry for Mech Jam 2

Quick Story :

The rogue legion a ruthless private army has invaded base MC 979 to attempt to steal the prototype of a new giant mecha with plasma weapons

They have already started to fortify their position on the planet by seting up defences.

It's up to a small merc team of pilots team maverick to try and save the day !

the plan is simple : deploy, destroy all targets of interest to gain back some ground and reach the prototype before it's too late, if they get their hands on it you'll have to destroy it.

Gameplay and Controls :

It's a top down shooter, each level has a number of objectives to destroy (indicated top right) once all objectives of the levels are destroyed you move on to the next one untill you reach the bossfight,

you can choose between 8 different pilots and their respective mechas, each has their own hp value and one of 4 starter weapons

Controls :

WASD or ZQSD or Arrowkeys = move and select in menus

Mouse Left Click = shoot and confirm choice in menus

Mouse to aim

That's about it for this jam version, hope you'll have fun :)

Nice game! I'm impressed by the amount of content you were able to make. I finished the game and had fun, but I suggest adding a radar as the regular levels were quite large and it was difficult to find all the targets.

While the vulcan is a bit OP, it's more fun than the other weapons because of its power >:) By comparison, the mortar felt a bit underpowered for its fire rate, but maybe it just needed a bit more juice to sell it.

Thanks glad you've had fun playing the game and made it through the end ^^

Yeah radar's the biggest missing feature most people want according to feedback so i'll see if i go for that or some more signposting in the level design to help guide players towards the objectives.

Haha well this kinda makes me wonder should i then change the rebalance i worked on and just buff under powered weapons instead ? i'll try and see what works best but that's an interesting way to see things.

Thanks for the video playthrough :)

It's really awesome to see you skillfully zip through the whole game like that XD

The boss is a bit lacking mostly cause i didn't have much time to make it more interesting patterns, and have a better level for it as well.

Still i don't think i could make anything that would last long against those mad speedruning skills of yours :p

Nerf the Vulkan, it is just too OP XD
Nice game btw, I couldn't make it past the second stage, but I found the gameplay limitations fun. Being able to only shoot in 8 directions was challenging.
The art was nice, especially the icons of the different weapons.
Plenty of room for improvements, but that's true with every jam game.

Good job Pixel :)

Thanks  Matteo :)

Yeah i didn't properly balance... again :(  haha

The vulkan was supposed to be counter balanced by it's lack of accuracy, but seeing how much bullets it spits out it doesn't really make a difference and ended up super OP.

Glad you liked the game despite the many flaws and the crazy unbalance it currently has XD happy that you liked the art also, i would have had more weapons if i could to vary the powerups and starting loadouts a bit more.
