Chaos Squad, new update, a few UI tweaks and a bit more balance tweaks
Chaos Squad » Devlog
New update while i got some time to work on the game a bit, this time a few changes, mainly to improve readability for targets as the numerical health bar could ba a bit hard to read at a distance. And a few more weapon tweaks to hopefully have everything a bit more fun to use :p
Here’s the changelog for a quick overview of the changes :
Overall Changelog :
- Changed player starting position in level 01 to not start right in the turret’s fire
- Swapped Marksman Rifle and Laser locations in level 02
- Tweaked a bit more some weapons firerates, with some other small changes (i’ll detail more below in a weapon section)
- Added new animation to the scope function to make it a bit more interesting
- Replaced the old numerical display for Mission Targets with a new Healthbar for confort and better readability at a distance
Weapon changes :
- All scoped weapons now have a new “window popup” animation complete with static during transition
- Revamped a bit more the muzzleflash system to give new patterns for the ARs and the LMG
- Slightly increased firerate for the SMG, the 3 AR types and the LMG (still put it lower than the minigun to keep in balance)
And that’s about all for this update, hope the game feels a bit more polished this way both visually and in some Q.O.L. Additions :)

LMG was great although almost too easy, would be good if it over heated and had a cooldown or something. Could I get the beam weapon earlier in level 3? Would love to take out some mechs with that thing :)
Haha yeah it is a bit OP especially with the slight firerate buff :p
The overheat mechanic seems like a good idea, i’ll have to see if i can implement one without having to fully redo my weapon system though.
Well it is pretty OP but i guess it’s kind of a waste that i put it at the very end of the level so i could put it elsewhere why not :)
